Fever is 101.2

I didn't write yesterday because I couldn't.  My head was pounding and I ached all over.  Plus I had twisted my left knee on the walk to the train station yesterday morning.  I was prompted to go back home but didn't listen.  By the time we got to work, my left knee was twice the size of my right knee.  I finally just left Clyde at work and came home on my own.  By the time I got home, I was aching all over and my head was pounding.  My fever was 101.4 and I didn't check it for the rest of the day.  I was feeling a bit better today but still achy.  My temp was 101.2 earlier this afternoon.  My head still hurts and I want to go back to bed with a cool cloth over my eyes.

I hope there is someone to lead the singing tomorrow because I am not up to going to church - especially if I am still running a fever tonight.   I don't have a Branch member directory - so I can't call anyone.

Ascension Day

Today is a holiday.  We did not know it was a Danish Holiday until we got on the train to come home after going all of the way into the city.  They came to check our tickets and I asked the Transit Official if it was a holiday.  He said it is a Danish National Holiday and it honors the day Christ ascended into heaven after His Crucifixion.  We thought things were awfully quiet but when we saw no one we recognized on the train station or at the bus stop - we knew something was up.  Then I realized the buses were traveling on their holiday schedule.  At the train station I said we needed to go home.  It would have been 45 minutes to the next bus had we gone into the office building and I was just not up to walking.  So instead - on the way home we stopped by the bakery and got some hard rolls and pastries.  Clyde hates surprises and so this has been a bit of an off day.  However I am grateful for the day to get some laundry done and be able to have some down time.  We really don't get that much.

We spent the morning deep cleaning our room.  We flipped the mattresses around and are in the process of doing sheets.  I think we will hang them outside today so we can get them to dry quicker.  That would be helpful.

Clyde went home teaching this afternoon.  It takes so long to do anything here.  First of all the city is so big and then the public transportation always takes time.  It is just one of the quirks of living here.

Another Day and several hundred more names are available.

We had a good day.  We did 8 books and no glitches.  I like days like that.  This morning Vanessa, a young intern we were friends with through the winter at the archive, came in for a conference.  I am afraid we made her a bit late with our catching up.

We have had the oddest occurrences.  Last week we started corresponding with a couple from Boise Idaho that said they were replacing us but the come in February not April.  Then today we heard from another couple that the mission office thinks is replacing us.  They come in October!  Either they are really anxious to get rid of us or our prayers are being answered and the Church is sending more digitizing missionaries out.  I am going with the inspiration tact.

Terrific Tuesday

We finished 7 books again today.  2 of them took over an hour to get through.  It was all around a great day at work.  For lunch, Jeppe made everyone spaghetti.  He used 4 kinds of sausage plus ground beef.  I would call it meat lovers spaghetti sauce.  It was very good.

This morning as we were waiting for our bus, bus 5A came and let everyone on.  A little girl about 5 ran to the door and told the bus driver her grandmother was coming but she had a hurt foot.  The bus driver smiled at the little girl and did hold the bus.  I find the Danes try really hard to be kind and pleasant.  They are also more concerned about others than themselves.  Last week as I was getting off the train, I was literally run over by a woman and her bike trying to get ahead of everyone.  I thought, "she is not Danish."  As we walked to the bus, I heard someone yelling and being very foul mouthed.  It was the woman and she was American.  I KNEW she wasn't Danish.  Sadly, I should have guessed where she came from.

This morning while on the bus, I watched a grandmother pull up at one of the schools and help her grandson unload his bike from the back of her car.  When they were finished, he hugged his grandmother and kissed her on the cheek.  It was very sweet.  That is typical Danish.

Another Great Day

We did 8 books today.  One took almost 2 hours and was a real pain.  But I hope that the work will be done for these young girls and that this helps.

For some reason my knees are really sore today.  I am not sure quite why.  There has got to be a change in weather coming. 

We had 2 changes today.  We had to open the windows, so we covered the glass with cardboard to block out the light.  We also started to send our hard drive shuttle to Frankfurt am/Main.  I wish I could take a trip with the shuttle and see the place of so many years of my youth.

It is once again a gorgeous day in Denmark.

Beautiful and Comfortable Sunday

This morning we woke up to beastly heat.  I was dreading Church because there is not air conditioning there or pretty much anywhere in Denmark.  However I was pleasantly surprised on the bus, because it was air conditioned.  In fact it was a bit chilly on the bus because so few people were riding.  We got to the Church and the chapel and upstairs areas were very hot but the basement was cool.  It rained on the way home and the temperatures dropped to the low 60's and it has been very comfortable ever since.

Church, as always was a wonderful spiritual feast.  We spoke about the covenants we make in the Church during Relief Society/Priesthood.  Here are few of the things that were discussed.

A covenant is a promise made between God and ourselves.  You are even more blessed when you do what you promised God.  He will shower blessings upon you.  Covenants are personal.  We build spiritual strength through covenants.

Baptism - we take upon ourselves Jesus Christ's name.  We promise to be a disciple and servant of Christ.

Temple - we make covenants (and promise to keep them). We become pure to God.  We go to the temple and do the work for others.  Only once do we do the work for ourselves.  The temple enlightens us.  When you attend the temple it like a physical embrace from our Father in Heaven.

Tithing helps us understand the  value of things.  Tithing teaches us to be selfless.

It was a beautiful and inspiring lesson.  I slept all afternoon because of a headache.  But I feel refreshed now.

Abundant Sunshine

Last night we had thunderstorms.  It was rainyand cool.  Made me grateful we were indoors.  This morning the sun came out and it has been a beautiful day.  Our days are now running with daylight at 4 am and it gets dark at 10:15 pm.  Quite amazing.  Our backyard is looking like a jungle.

We went to go shopping this morning and our favorite store, Rema 1000 - was closed for some inexplicable reason.  We had to do our shopping at SuperBest and that is always more expensive.  Oh well, at least we are ready for the week.

We are looking forward to a beautiful sunny, Sunday.

A Glorious Day in the Temple

This morning Clyde and I went to the 10:00 session in the temple.  Because this week they are celebrating the temple being opened for 10 years, there has been a big push for attendance.  The Room will fit 38  comfortably.  We had 47 and it was a tight squeeze.  The Spirit was amazing.  I was sitting by a sweet woman that has Type 1 Diabetes, Glaucoma and had a stroke and fell last week.  If she can be in the temple - there is no excuse of the those of us who can to not attend.  I had the privilege of helping her dress.  Her name was Anna and she is 75.  To have Type1 Diabetes and be that old, that is a miracle in and of itself.

Clyde and I went to a new mall that we discovered and got him some more short sleeved shirts.  The weather has turned beastly warm and we both need summer clothes.  I got some sandals and a sun hat.  That should help us both for a while.

Happy Birthday Evie.  Hope you have a wonderful birthday.  We will be there for your next one!

Today the office was extremely quiet.  Even when our office mates were in the office, it was quiet.  Almost everyone was hung over.  It was Bo's bachelor party last night.  The office bought him an hours flight lesson, went to his favorite restaurant and then several of them went to a pub and didn't get home until 4a.m.  Lars and Bo were so hung over that they begged people to speak softly.  Bo spent most of his day with his head in his hands.  Jeppe had stayed with them but did not drink.  He just wanted to make sure everyone got home okay.  When he got home, he spent the rest of the night walking the floor because dinner did not agree with him.  Jeppe spent the early afternoon making everyone strong coffee and then he went home.  Daniel did not go to the pub.  He went home at 11 so he could watch the Spurs win with another blow out.  I thought that if I was going to pick the one who had the most fun - it would be Daniel. 

 

I still have a pounding head ache.  I am going to bed early again tonight.  Hopefully we are going to the temple tomorrow.

Ran Out of Work, today

I just heard the loudest most horrific siren I have ever heard.  When I looked out the window it was for a motorcycle cop!  The bigger the noise, the smaller the vehicle.

We ordered protocols and registers for today and received none.  We ended up coming home at 1:30.  I got home and found an email for a new Family Search couple that were told they would replace us.  They are coming the first of February.  I told them that they wouldn't be replacing us because our 18 months is not up until April.  I spent over an hour emailing them back and answering their questions.  I lost track of time, so dinner was late.

 I am once again getting a horrible head ache.  I need to quit and go to bed.

We had a good day today.  Last night I went to bed with a horrible earache and sore throat.  I prayed that I would not have to stay home and was blessed this morning with nothing - not even grogginess to get in my way.

 

We had visitors today from Family Search.  Larry and David helped us work out some of our glitches.  It was a blessed day.

Magnificent Monday

This is everyone around the firepit.  Clyde is toward the back on the left in the red and black jacket.  It was a very fun day.

Today was a good day.  We got 7 books done but DCam once again shut down on us as we were working on our 7th book.  It was a big book and maybe it just got tire.  Tomorrow the 'Big Wigs' for Europe from Family Search are supposed to visit.  We haven't heard from them - so we shall see.

 

Jeppe made us some juice today with a whole 'finger' of ginger, beets and carrots in it.  It was spicy and really quite good but not something I would want to repeat often.  It was a good day.

And the heavens opened.

Today was supposed to be partly cloudy with isolated showers.  I just brought an umbrella to church.  When we left, it was raining so hard that Clyde and I were soaked through - even with the umbrella.  Now it is raining even harder.  I came home, hung my clothes up to dry and took a shower to warm up and be clean.  I was still rather chilled so I warmed up a very small cup of the chili.  Just what I needed.

This morning, Jerrn (our organist) was telling me that "It May Not Be on a Mountain Top" was his favorite hymn.  However what he told me was " I will be where you sent me" was the hymn.  I looked at him a bit puzzled and then he played it.  I love the direct translation.

Bir is a little 3 year old that has autism in our ward.  He is just starting to speak and now chatters all of the time.  He had a some play food - a piece of deep dish pizza and a ketchup bottle - that he was going around and 'squirting' ketchup on the pizza and handing it to people, just before church.  He came to me and handed the pizza.  I started to put it toward my mouth when he yelled, "Nej, Nej!"  (No no).  I started making gobbling sounds and made  Bir laugh so hard.  He went around to everyone in the room and told them to go - making the sound I made.  Then he would laugh.  I said, "Who knew we needed pizza before church?"  Everyone laughed and one of the brothers said, "Well Bir is attending our needs very well."  Then Bir came back and told me all of the toppings on the pizza.  He speaks no English, so this was all in Danish.  I was quite proud that he kept back to me to 'talk.'

I had a very spiritual day but have written enough for today.  I will delve into the things I learned more this coming week.

Dejlig Lorsday (delightful Saturday)

Last Sunday on my walk to church, I saw lilacs everywhere.  I had never seen them this deep purple though.  These pictures do not do them justice.

This one is for my Heidi, my tulip lover.  The flowers here are so beautiful.  The green are so vibrant and yards are usually very well kept.

Clyde and I did our best to prepare for the Sabbath.  We did our shopping and got our hair cut.  It has been a beautiful day.  We will need to get our hair cut again the end of June because the salon we go to will be closed for the month of July.  The joys of living in Denmark.

Danish National Prayer Day

Yesterday I 'Googled' Mother Goose out of curiosity.  I found that John Newbery was the first person to compile a 'book' of children's stories and poems (many of them 'Mother Goose rhymes') in the mid 1700's.  Because of his contribution to literature, the 'Newbery Award' was named after him.  

We had a Branch picnic today.  We went to a park not too far from the airport.  The planes don't fly over that way very much.  It was like being a little forest.  We had hot dogs (thinner, longer and much more flavorful than American hot dogs) and bread on a stick.  Most people that camp know that you can wrap bread dough around the tip of a stick and cook it over coals.  It was a whole wheat bread and very tasty.  The Danes filled the hole with cheese (like cream cheese) and jam.  So Good!  One of the sisters brought a potato salad like my Grandma Sarah Tuttle used to make.  I am getting the recipe.  It has always been my favorite. (You use cucumber instead of pickles in it).

We rode the Metro and the bus to get there.  One of the counselors in the Relief Society got on with us - Anna.  We had a marvelous visit with her.  We also got a bit lost and since she is Danish, she got us 'found' again.  All in all, aside from the slight pinkening of my face from a sunburn - it was a wonderful day.

Tomorrow is a holiday

This will be a short posting.  Clyde went in to work alone because I have a horrible sinus headache and earache.  So tired of all of this.  However I did get a lot done around the apartment and that felt good.  It wasn't a total waste.

Tomorrow is a national holiday for Denmark.  It is a day of prayer.  We have a Branch picnic to attend from 10-2.  Should be fun.  We are having sausages and bread-on-a-stick, plus whatever sides people bring from home.

Rainy Wednesday in May

Clyde was still feeling a bit under the weather today.  We did not go in.  I am so grateful that he is taking it easy.  I don't want to be out of it for 3 weeks again.  He seems better tonight.  We will see about tomorrow.  Because of that there is not much to report.  It has been raining hard all afternoon.  I am so glad we did not have to go out in it.  I hope the sun comes out soon.

We Stayed Home

Clyde was up most of the night coughing and just generally not feeling good.  He stayed home today but wants to try and go in tomorrow.  I am concerned about that because this is how his lung infection started.  He has been running a low grade fever off and on all day.  I just think he should stay down until he is better.  He doesn't see things that way.

Because we didn't go in to work there isn't much to report.  Life is going well. 

A Very Full Day

Today has been long and hard.  We did 6 books, 3000 images and still had over an hour of down time with the camera.  We did not leave work until almost 4:00.  By the time we did our errands after work, it was after 5.  I am worn out and my head is pounding but this is the schedule that Clyde wants us to do everyday.  I just need to decide and do it.

Jeppe told us today that he and his family are living in the garden plot (in Europe, land is sectioned off and you can buy 'a bit of earth' to do whatever you desire.  Grow vegs or flowers or just treat it as you backyard).  Jeppe and his wife are having the house reroofed and an addition done.  They will be camping in a small trailer (they call them caravans here) and a tent on their plot.  Does not sound fun to me - especially when it rains as hard as it does here.

I think I mentioned that the guys at work bought a high end juicer.  Today, Jeppe and Mikkel made juice from carrots, grapes, oranges, apples and pears.  Then to help with our combustion (I think they meant our digestion) they added some fresh ginger and a Thai bird chili (one of the hottest chili's on the planet!).  I do hot well but this was too hot for me.  The taste as it went down was wonderful but the burn after from the ginger an chili was too much.  They had done the ginger and chili separately from the other juice.  Daniel only wanted a bit of juice - so they gave him the cup with the ginger and chili in it.  Needless to say, Daniel was sipping whole milk for the rest of the afternoon.  I told Mikkel and Jeppe that was mean!  They laughed and said that Daniel was always a good sport.  He is.  They were all glad to know the milk trick.  Clyde's stomach has hurt ever since.  He said his stomach feels like combustion!

Happy Mother's Day, 2014

It is Mother's Day in Denmark too.  They sang "Popcorn Popping" and "Mother I Love You".  It was wonderful.  Then they passed out the little blossom bouquets of small mums.  It was inexpensive and very sweet.  I could attach my bouquet to my clip on my nametag and have a corsage.  It was a special morning.

I learn so much in Relief Society from the lessons.  It is like when we read the Book of Mormon in Danish and English.  Things are phrased slightly differently and it gives you a new perspective.  Today as we were talking about the priesthood, Sister Helen taught that we will be strengthened the more we read of the scriptures and good books.  Knowledge is the one thing we can take with us.  The more we search for knowledge in the Gospel, the more we will be blessed. 

In a talk today, Sister Hannah Olsen (the Relief Society President) said that every time she goes to the temple she is given guidance and revelation about how to improve her life.  She goes weekly but before, when they had to travel to Switzerland, it was a momentous time to be at the temple because it wouldn't happen more than one or 2 times a year.  She was very careful to listen to the promptings and follow through on them.  I had not thought to do that every time.  I go for specific reasons, such as inspiration for a lesson or talk but I had never really thought to seek ways to better myself every time I went.  Let's face it - I have always been slow on the uptake here.  I will do that now.

I would like to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all of the women in my life.  My sister is one of the best mothers I know.  My daughter's and nieces have set such a good example to me of what a good mother is.  My friends and loved ones have shown me so many ways to improve myself as a mother.  I am grateful to all of you for making my life better.

A Good Saturday in May

The weather is better today (and today only) so I don't hurt as bad as I did last night.  I am glad. 

We did our grocery shopping in the mall grocery stores today.  The produce there is fresher than in the independent ones around the neighborhood except for Brugsen's and they are very fresh but very expensive.  While we were in the mall, the Lions Club of Hvidore was running a children's marathon.  Not only that but you couldn't be older than 8 years old and the minimum was 3.  It was the cutest thing I have ever seen.  One little girl - about 4 in a pink tutu and bright sparkly pink tennis shoes, was telling everyone 'Hi' as she ran by.  Really made me homesick for my grandchildren.

I saw a stork flying overhead as we left the mall.  It was beautiful.  I can honestly say that I have never seen a stork in flight in nature ever before.  It was quite awe inspiring.  Hans Christian Andersen and the Grimm brothers wrote many stories about storks.  I was happy to witness this.

As we were coming home, a young man stopped us and asked us where the nearest grocery store was.  He was thrilled that we could direct him and it was so close.  I was thrilled we could help him.  Fortunately  - a all Danes do - he spoke English.  We did tell him where the nearest chain he asked for in Danish but the nearest grocery stores turned out to be a better deal for him.

We had an amazing supper of oven baked foil wrapped salmon with rice and lemon.  We also had roasted asparagus and fresh fruit and vegetables.  Probably on of the best meals I have fixed since moving here.

A Rainy Friday in May

This weather is playing havoc on my joints.  I am in pain all of the time and can't do the simplest things, like stand and do the dishes.  It is very frustrating.  I keep hoping I will get better but I seem to get worse when the weather is bad - and the weather stays miserable for weeks at a time.  I somehow have to overcome this.  I take glucosamine every day and when I don't - I know it.  However there is no Tylenol or aspirin over the counter here.  Ibuprofen does not take the inflammation down like those do.  I keep doing my exercises but sometimes they just make me feel worse.  I have so much to do tomorrow and to feel miserable is just not in the cards.

Enough complaining.  We did 6 books today and one of them was the equivalent of 2+ books.  It took us over 2 hours to finish that one.  Then as we went to evaluate it - DCam wouldn't let us.  very frustrating.  We had to shut everything down and start fresh.  However that was the only glitch today.  Looks like changing the wiring was a smart move.

We went to the Valby Mall today and bought some new placemats, a fan and an over the door hook bar.  The hooks we had in the bathroom came unglued.  The fan is kind of scary looking.  It has no cover over the blades.  However it is plastic and doesn't rotate very quickly.  It will be a help when we need to move air around in the room.  As we were leaving and entering the train station, a vendor caught my eye and told me, "Hello, remember me?  Have a nice weekend.  (All in English).  I know he remembers my bright yellow raincoat and nametag.  Maybe I should get a coat that is less flashy.

Life is good.  time is flying by.  Next week we will have been here 6  months.  That to me is mind boggling.  I am so grateful we are a mission that we love. 

Rainy Thursday in May

I slept all day long.  I ache all over and have a pounding headache.  This has been going on since I woke up.  I decided it was best to stay home.  I am glad I did but I still feel guilty when I do.

Clyde had somewhat of a stressful day.  The train schedule has changed.  We need to leave the house 5 minutes earlier now.  That is a bit frustrating.  Then Clyde got to work and the program would not let him evaluate the books.  It has to be evaluated in order to download onto the shuttle drive.  He has become resigned to something happening everyday.

He is currently at a missionary fireside.  The Elders are going to hold one the first Thursday of every month.  Clyde's allergies are giving him fits besides.  I admire him for going and doing things even when he doesn't feel good. 

We were in the system...

...and so it only took a few minutes for us to become legal.  They were not the least bit concerned that we had not received our letter.  We were in the computer and they simply retook our pictures and our fingerprints.  We are legal until May 7, 2015 (but we should be on our way home by then).  It is raining hard and I came home and let Clyde go to work alone.  I have a sore throat again and ache all over.  I have learned that if I take it easy, I get better much quicker.  I was drenched when I got home though.  My skirt was dripping wet and my raincoat is still shedding water.  My shoes are soaked through.  So glad we do have these coats to keep us dry though.  We are thinking we better get something like a London Fog coat for this summer.  These plastic things are going to overheat us quickly. 

Transportation did not work out as smoothly.  To get home I had to take "two buses and a train!".  To get to immigration was 2 buses and a long walk in a deluge, then they were late opening so we got to stand there for 15 minutes to do 5 minutes of work.  Oh well such is life.  I am just relieved we are legal now.

I am going to shut down the computer and go to bed.  I am running a fever again.  Have a good day.

Not How We Planned

This morning we got up early and got ready to go to immigration and get our papers taken care of.  Clyde had looked up to make sure it was open today and the website stated the hours for the week and they would be open from 8:30-5.  WRONG!  We got there and took our 50 minute bus ride down to the office and they were closed today because of a conference.  Fortunately we are learning our way around and realized if we took bus 6A back to the Copenhagen Central Station, we could pick up bus 250S and get to work.  We arrived about 1 1/2 hours past our usual time but were able to get 5 books done today.

We think we found the problem with D-Cam shutting down on us all of the time.  About a month ago, the office got a new dishwasher.  Since then there have been problems with brownouts.  We thought the electricians had it figured out but today, after lunch when they were running the dishwasher, D-Cam shut down again.  Clyde went to turn all of the switches off so that we could wait 5 or 10 minutes and reboot.  When he switched off the main terminal, he noticed that the green light was flashing, meaning that it had gone to auxiliary power, using the battery.  Tomorrow Jeppe and Frederick are going to run our wiring to go across the room to the other outlet on the other side of our space.  There is not as much drain on those circuits.  Hopefully that will solve this problem, once and for all.

On the way home this afternoon from the train, Clyde and I saw a  mother duck walking with her 3 baby ducklings.  It was the cutest thing I have ever seen.  Of course I didn't have my camera with me.

Congratulations to Brandon, our son-in-law for getting the position of Quality Control Officer at the turkey plant.  We are excited to have you in our ward and be close by.

An Okay Day

We went to work expecting more books.  They were not delivered.  We only had enough to keep us busy until 1p.m.  But we had to transfer files from the D-Cam to another file.  We fill up the D-Cam files really quickly and when we receive the hard drives back from Salt Lake City, they are not always formatted to delete files.  We keep getting more and more stuff and no where to put it.  Hopefully it will be resolved at some point.

We discovered our papers for our biometrics were somehow lost today.  We need to go down tomorrow and get it taken care of without the letter.  Hopefully it will work because right now we have expired.  Please pray that all goes smoothly tomorrow.  Otherwise we will see you in a couple of weeks!  That is a bit of an exaggeration but not much.

It is a gloomy day today.  I shouldn't let the weather affect me like it does, but I somehow can't help it.  This Southwest US girl just functions better in the sunshine. 

We are doing well.  My arthritis has been acting up today because of the cooler front that has blown in.  I will just have to hurt all week.  It is supposed to rain until Saturday.

A New Calling

Today I was called and set-apart as the new Branch Music Director.  I am not sure that it the proper name for the calling in English but it is a literal translation from Danish.  I have plans to have the young women in the branch learn how to lead music, so that when we leave - there will be someone to take over for me.  Right now there is me and one other Senior Missionary sister that knows how to lead.  We need to fix that.

Church was beautiful.  When we first got here, all of the other missionaries that came a few weeks before us, were staying for 18 months.  We are the only ones that have not extended to 23 months.  I am happy for those that made the decision but we are still not sure how our finances are shaping up AND we need to be home for Evie's baptism.

We have a new elder.  Elder Zenger grew up in the Belmont area in Boston (where the temple is).  A few years ago his family moved to New York City but in his mind and heart - he is from Boston.  He even received his endowment in the Boston Temple.  A very neat young man with some pronunciations of a few words that hark me back to New England.

We found out today that our paperwork for our biometrics has never appeared in the Mission Office.  Curious where it is but this Denmark's fault, not ours.  We cannot go to a DR until it is taken care of because our cards have expired that we were first issued.

In the blessing that was given me today, I was told that I will be well enough to fulfill my daily mission calling and my Sunday responsibilities too.  I am pleased with that.  I hate having to have sick days.  I am here to serve and not to lay around.

Yesterday, Clyde and I watched "A Fairytale - a true story".  It is a movie I have not seen since we left Ephraim.  I am now reading the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle books that he wrote about the experience called The Coming of Fairies.  It is an interesting and fun read.

Slow Saturday

Not much to tell today.  Did the Saturday things and preparing for Fast Sunday tomorrow.  Things are going well but it is too cold for the windows to be open to hot if they are shut.  A miserable catch-22.  Enjoy your Sabbath.

It is Friday

It has been a good week at work.  We have already done 15 of the school record books.  Only 180 to go!  Today there were no glitches on the computer but the 3:40 bus never showed.  We ended up waiting more the 1/2 hour for the bus.  That is the problem with 250S - it just comes when it wants too.

This morning I saw a young woman and thought I recognized her but she came and reminded me that we had spoken on Sunday after Stake Conference.  We visited while Clyde and I waited for 10 minutes for our bus to show.  She is Sister Moeller from Aarhus and is in Copenhagen for cancer treatments.  Her hair is just growing back from the chemo.  She told me she would look up the Young Single Adults and spend the evening with them.

Life is good  - even on rainy days.

May Day!

First of all, Happy Birthday Annie!  Hope you have a wonderful day and an even better year.

We are getting a holiday because it is basically Labor Day in Copenhagen.  Not all cities celebrate it but Copenhagen let all of their city workers off today.  I laugh when people talk about the easy 40 hour work week in the US.  Here NO ONE works more than 37 hours - usually about 35 hours but never more.  Yesterday we were the first ones in the office and the last ones out.  We had to make sure everything was locked up.  That happened around Christmas time too.

Today we went to the Valby (pronounced Val-boo) mall.  Clyde got two short sleeved polo shirts and we got some fluorescent green and blue pots to replant our plants in.  We have an ugly black bucket for the tomato plant.  The Pepperoni plant went into the green pot and the gardenia in the blue.  They look very nice and I am sure they will love having some wiggle room.  We also got an umbrella chair for our trip in July to Viborg.  I am hoping to talk the other couples into stopping in Odense for a quick gander at Hans Christian Andersen's home but we will see.  I may not ever get there.  A disappointment but not life altering.

The sun is rising at 5:30 a.m. and setting at 8:49 p.m.  On a day like today, that is a lot of sunshine and it feel incredible.  Tomorrow the weather is supposed to cool a bit.  We will see.
